A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

This incident resulted in the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

These detentions come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the injured during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault near the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Police were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people hurt by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
